When considering quotes and proposals from commercial janitorial companies, asking questions and being forewarned on pricing structures is good policy. In other words, although you may ask for a quote for the exact same services, not all quotes will come back the same. Many companies do not include paper product and supplies; particularly the ones that need to be supplied and routinely restocked like paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap.
Specifically, quotes can detail only the labor costs of the janitorial staff (which is the elbow grease that goes in to the making everything clean and sanitary). But there are also the supplies. Many commercial cleaning companies quote ONLY for the labor and then bill later for the supplies. This is a common practice particularly for the paper products….charging as much as $1 per roll for toilet paper.
The expression “you get what you pay for” rings true in life and in the janitorial business.
When comparing quotes make sure you are really comparing apples to apples. If it’s not spelled out for you in the quote, ask.
